Addressing BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, who told the story of Azrael to his party leaders and activists, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said, “Are you an angel of God?” How do you know who Azrael is after? Mr. Fakhrul, when did God make you an angel, a prophet?

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir claimed that the time of the Awami League government has come to an end in a rally in front of the BNP central office in Nayapaltan of the capital on January 25. The BNP Secretary General also narrated a story of the angel ‘Azrael’ of the party leaders and workers to explain how the time has ended.

Following Fakhrul’s statement, Obaidul Quader asked these questions in a meeting on Friday afternoon.

The meeting was held at the central office of Awami League at 23 Bangabandhu Avenue with the central leaders of the party along with the presidents and general secretaries of Dhaka Metropolitan North-South and allied organizations.

Obaidul Quader said in the speech of the president in the meeting, all the strange news, all the bad politics, they do the bad politics, they are the ones who say those bad things. What is terrible? These prejudices in politics? That is killing the opponent. Such horrible rumors spread.

He said, today they are like wayward pilgrims, 54 groups, 54 paths, 54 opinions on what to do, what program to give. This group will be smaller soon. Left and right alone, BNP runs on now invisible remote control. BNP’s movement now runs on remote control, under invisible instructions. When will the foreigners ban the government, trusting in Allah and looking at the foreigners. There is no people, no public, bans and invisible directives are their politics.

Awami League general secretary said, we do not think they (BNP) are weak. All the anti-Awami League forces, some bad forces, have formed the anti-Awami League under the leadership of BNP. We will continue our program.

He said, Ziaur Rahman is the founder of Awami League, it is absurd. Fakhrul Sahib sometimes says strange things. Ziaur Rahman destroyed Awami League if he could. The events of 1975 happened to destroy the liberation war and the Awami League. He will establish the Awami League, then why did he kill Bangabandhu? Why is Joy Bangla banned? Why is Bangladesh Radio, Bangladesh Radio? Why was the ideal of freedom destroyed?
