A drug dealer named Kamal Hossain has been arrested by the police in connection with the recovery of a large quantity of foreign liquor from the bottom of the river. On Wednesday night, the consignment of foreign liquor was recovered from the bank of Kendua river in Chaturbhuj village of Sunamganj’s Tahirpur upazila.

Arrested Kamal, son of Jamal Uddin of Chaturbhaj village of Dakshin Baradal Union of Upazila. Tahirpur Police Station OC Syed Iftekhar Hossain confirmed this information yesterday at 3 pm on Thursday. He said that the police raided on Wednesday night on the basis of secret information that foreign liquor was being bought and sold in a residential house in Churbhuj village of the upazila.

Sangeet officers led by Jahangir Hossain first recovered a bottle of foreign liquor from the bag held by Kamal Hossain of Gana Upazila Kamar Kandi village. After that, based on the information given by him, 70 bottles of foreign liquor were recovered in three sacks tied with a rope behind his house in the village. At that time, the other three drug dealers who were buying and selling liquor in the house fled, but the police arrested Kamal. Kamal was arrested on Wednesday night and three other drug dealers were found to be absconding and a case was filed at the police station under the relevant section of the Narcotics Control Act.
