Endangered bear cub rescued in Cox’s Bazar

Mohammad Amin Ullah, Cox’s Bazar: 2 endangered species of bear cubs have been rescued from Chakaria Digar Pankhali area of ​​Cox’s Bazar. The police of Chakaria police station also arrested 1 trafficker.
Deepak Das (32), a member of the smuggling team, is the son of Sonaram Das of Digarpankhali area.
Cox’s Bazar District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mahfuzul Islam gave this information at a press briefing on Saturday. He said, “A team of the district intelligence wing conducted a raid on Friday night and recovered the bear cub and arrested Deepak Das. Initial inquiries revealed that two cubs were smuggled 16 days ago from Myanmar bordering Bandarban. Later it waited to take it to another neighboring market to sell it in the international market at a higher profit. Meanwhile, the police arrested him and took him to Chakaria police station.”
The police also said that the neighboring country was able to arrest this active member of wildlife trafficking after a long time based on a tip provided by India.
A case has been registered against the arrested accused Deepak Das at Chakaria police station and legal proceedings are under process.
