Thousands of people of 10 villages have suffered due to the filling of canals of Eralia-Nazirpur of Habiganj Sadar Upazila. People used to cut the crop land and bring it home through the two banks of the old canal. Even during the monsoons, boats were plying. Besides, cattle used to get food from that canal. But there is no water in the canal because the influential people have filled the canal and built trees and houses.

Locals said that the canal that filled the canal from under the pool of Narda’s house to Nazirpur and planted houses and trees has lost its stability. Due to this, thousands of people of 10 villages including Nazirpur-Barapait, Eralia have suffered. Now it cannot be used as there is no water. Despite repeated appeals to the authorities, no remedy is available. So they demanded action from the administration.
