World Bank Managing Director Axel Van Trotsenberg is coming to Dhaka tomorrow Saturday (January 21) on a three-day visit. This is Axel van Trotsenberg’s first visit to Bangladesh.

This information was confirmed by the Dhaka office of the World Bank on Friday (January 20).

During the visit, Van Trotsenberg will attend a ceremony on Sunday (January 22) to mark 50 years of partnership between Bangladesh and the World Bank and the country’s significant economic and social development. He will be accompanied by Martin Riser, Vice President of the World Bank for South Asia.

Axel van Trotsenberg said about Bangladesh’s economic and social development, this country has shown the world what can be done to reduce poverty through successful innovations in human development, women’s empowerment and climate adaptation.

He further said, ‘The World Bank is proud of its 50-year partnership with Bangladesh and being a part of the country’s remarkable development journey. I am looking forward to my visit and witnessing these achievements first hand.”
