The highest body of international cricket, ICC, has become a victim of cyber crime. Recently, a fraud circle in the United States claimed to have stolen about two and a half million dollars from the organization last year, according to the cricket news media ESPN Cricinfo.
According to media reports, the online scam is called Business Email Compromise (BEC). Also known as e-mail account compromise. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has termed it as the ‘biggest online financial fraud ever’.
ICC has not notified anything about this cybercrime or financial scam. They are believed to want to maintain secrecy over the matter. However, US law enforcement agencies are believed to be involved in this financial fraud. A high-level investigation is also underway on the matter.
