Minimum temperature in Srimangal is 6.3, public life comes to a standstill

Moulvibazar, the country of tea, recorded the lowest temperature of 6.3 degrees Celsius during the winter season. People’s life has come to a standstill in severe winter. Low income people including tea workers are in trouble.

Srimangastha Meteorological Office recorded the lowest temperature of the year at 6.3 degrees Celsius at 9 am on Thursday (January 19). In the afternoon, the intensity of winter increased with the cold air. After the sun rises in the morning, the cold starts to decrease. The city came to a standstill since evening due to extreme cold. The movement of people decreases. Low income people including tea workers are in trouble due to severe cold. Many farmers said that the winter vegetables of the district are getting damaged due to severe winter and thick fog.

Bibalu Chandra, an official of the Srimangala Meteorological Observatory, said that the severity of winter has increased due to thick fog and cloudless sky. The temperature was recorded at 6.3 degrees Celsius at 9 am. This is the lowest temperature in the region this season. In this region, the intensity of winter is mainly from the month of January to the first week of February.

Note that the lowest temperature recorded in the region was 2.8 degrees Celsius on February 4, 1968. Moulvibazar District Agriculture Extension Directorate Deputy Director Samchuddin Ahmed said that due to winter, seedling growth in roro paddy has been delayed. If the winter and thick fog are prolonged, the rice may be attacked by leafhoppers. Dr. Moulvibazar civil surgeon. Chowdhury Jalal Uddin Murrshed said that compared to other times, the number of admissions of children and the elderly in different public and private hospitals of the district is much higher.

Moulvibazar District Commissioner Mir Nahid Ahsan said that the total allocation of 35,280 pieces of blankets has come to the district. The blankets have already been distributed among the downtrodden, day laborers and helpless people of 7 upazilas of the district.
