EU wants to send observers to national elections

The European Union (EU) has no recommendations regarding the upcoming 12th National Parliament elections.

European Union (EU) Head of Delegation Charles Whiteley said that the Election Commission (EC) will do their work. He made this comment to reporters after the meeting with the Election Commission (EC) at the election building on Wednesday (January 18).

Charles Whiteley said, we had a meeting with the EC from the EU mission today (January 18). We had extensive discussions with the commission regarding the election. It has made further progress since the last meeting in July last year. The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) has welcomed us to speak to the foreign mission, which is very important.

He also said that the EU wants to send observers to the parliamentary elections. Positive EC in this regard. We feel that there is scope for further discussion of technical and managerial issues in the EC’s work and progress.

In response to a question, this EU official said, everyone wants a participatory election. Peaceful and fair elections. Hence we have not made any recommendation to the EC. They will do their job. The meeting was attended by a delegation of 11 members of the EU, CEC and other commissioners and senior officials of the EC.
