Passenger bus-truck collision in Palashbari, 3 killed

A truck collided with a passenger bus in Palashbari upazila of Gaibandha. Meanwhile, 3 riders including 2 motorcycles were killed by the bus.
The accident happened on Monday (January 16) around 9 am at Chaumatha junction of Palashbari on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway.
Palashbari Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Masud Rana confirmed the matter.
The deceased are Suvis Chandra (35), son of Ganesh Chandra of Mirzapur village of Palashbari upazila, Suman Chandra (35), son of Subhas Chandra of Abhirampur village of Gobindganj upazila, and Vidyut Sarkar (42), son of Badsha Mia of Kairpara village.
Quoting the locals, the OC said that a reckless bus of Barkat Paribahan was heading towards Rangpur from Dhaka. On the way, the bus hit two motorcycles at Chaumatha junction. Later, the out-of-control bus collided with an oncoming cargo truck. Many were injured. Locals rescued three seriously injured people and took them to the health complex, the doctor in charge declared all three dead.
Palashbari Upazila Health and Family Planning Dr. Anishur Rahman said that 3 people injured in the accident died.
OC Masud Rana said that the driver escaped but the bus and the truck are in police custody.
