Science practice and productivity will increase with industry in the country: Planning Minister

Bangladesh Government Planning Minister MA Mannan said science practice and productivity will increase through the relationship of academia, researchers and pioneers in knowledge science contributing to education with industry.

He said these things while joining the Plenary Session-2 virtually on the second day of the Seventh International Conference organized by the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology at the Central Auditorium of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology on Friday (January 13) morning.

The Minister of Planning said that the meeting organized by the association of pioneer researchers, academia and industrial institutions in today’s scientific practice will help in increasing the inter-relationship. The present government wants to overcome all obstacles and build a system that is suitable for the maximum use of science and technology suitable for the 22nd century. Through which children can enjoy the taste of science. Besides, it is not just for the sake of taste, it will be possible to eliminate our extreme poverty and extreme backwardness through knowledge science.

The Planning Minister also said that the research budget is constantly increasing. In this case, the government is allocating more and more budget every year. Government is focusing on higher education. Our prime minister gives more importance to higher education, education minister also works hard in this regard.

In this session entitled ‘Industry-Academia Relationship: Bangladesh and Global Perspective’ chaired by University Vice Chancellor Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed as Panel Expert (Industry) Engineer Ryan Ott, Director of Operations of Chevron Bangladesh in America and Professor of National University of Singapore as Panel Expert (Academic). Mostafizur Rahman gave a speech.

Shabiprobi Dean of Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology as a resource person in the session. Md. Ariful Islam spoke.

It is to be noted that this three-day conference is being held with the aim of meeting the challenges in engineering education in the new millennium, following the modern progress in various fields of engineering and technology and strengthening the academia-industry relationship. It includes ‘Civil Engineering, Environment and Architecture’, ‘Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics’, ‘Chemical, Food, Petroleum and Mining’ and ‘Mechanical, Manufacturing and 190 articles by researchers from reputed institutes of 14 countries of the world including Bangladesh are being presented on four topics in Industrial Engineering.
