Homecoming Day is celebrated in Sikrivi

Several organizations of Sylhet Agricultural University have held various programs on the occasion of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s Homecoming Day on January 10. The officer council paid tribute to the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman installed in front of the administration building. Sikribir Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. was present at the time. Md. Jamal Uddin Bhuya.
VC Prof. Jamal Uddin said in a speech moderated by Md. Badrul Islam, President of the Officers Parishad, “The day is a joy for us. Because after independence, Bangladesh seemed incomplete without Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He was a brave leader of his time. In the context of that time, Bangabandhu praised the diplomatic activities of the then Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, a true friend of Bangladesh, and finalized the withdrawal of Indian troops from Bangladesh in the first meeting with Indira Gandhi. Basically, he spoke about the issue in the plane while returning from London to Dhaka, which proves his political and administrative foresight. It should be noted that Bangabandhu, in his meeting with Indira Gandhi on his return home on January 10, besides expressing his gratitude, wanted to know when the Indian soldiers who fought shoulder to shoulder with the freedom fighters against the Pakistani invasion would leave Bangladesh. Out of respect for Bangabandhu’s indomitable leadership, Indira Gandhi promised to withdraw Indian troops quickly that day.
Meanwhile, Sylhet Agricultural University’s Democratic Teachers Parishad (GASHIP) offered flowers to the Bangabandhu mural on the occasion of Homecoming Day. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Jamal Uddin Bhuya was also present there. Professor General Secretary of Gosip. The event was presided over by Mohammad Abu Zafar Babari, the newly elected president of Gossip, Professor Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam. Earlier Bangabandhu Foundation, Sikribi Branch paid tribute to the memory of Bangabandhu. The president of Bangabandhu Foundation Md. Badrul Islam, leaders and activists of various levels of the organization were present on the occasion.
It should be noted that on January 8, 1972, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was released after 9 months of imprisonment in Pakistan’s Mianwali Jail. Later he went to London from Pakistan and returned to Dhaka via Delhi on January 10. Press release
