A day long workshop on combatting early marriage held in Joypurhat
Nazrul Islam, Joypurhat: A day-long workshop was held on Child Marriage Prevention Act 17 and 18, implemented by NDP in collaboration with Plan International Bangladesh, with the theme of “No more child marriage and we will move forward with dreams” at the conference room of local NGO JAKAS Foundation Joypurhat.
Deputy Commissioner of Joypurhat Saleheen Tanveer Gazi spoke on the occasion as the chief guest. The program was addressed, among others, by assistant commissioner Abdulla Mahabub, Joypurhat Press Club President Advocate Nripendranath Mandal PP, National Development Program (NDP) Divisional Manager Sabbir Ahmed, executive director of JAKAS Foundation Nurul Amin, deputy executive director Abul Bashar, deputy director of Women Affairs Department Hasna Jahan, district co-ordinator of NDP Sharmin Akhtar, senior journalists Mostakim Farrokh, Adv Asadul Islam Asad, Shahadul Islam of BSS, K M Abdur Rahman Rani of Gazi TV, Abu Bakar Siddik of Bangla Vission TV, Shahajahan Siraj Mithu of NTV, Nazrul Islam of Daily Morning Glory, Alamgir Chowdhury of Kaler Kantha, Abdul Alim of Jamuna TV, BTV correspondent Mizanur Rahman Mintu, Abu Musa of Inqilab, Mashrekul Alam of News Today, Masud Rana of Jai Jai Din, Rubel Hossain of Prothom Alo and Shamim Kadir of Bangladesh Protidin.
30 local journalists from different print and electronic media of the district participated in the workshop, and presented various facts and techniques to prevent early marriage.
