The mobile court has raided 6 shops and godowns in Kalighat of Sylhet metropolis and seized about 3 metric tons of banned polythene shopping bags. At that time, the owners of these 6 business establishments were fined Tk 2 lakh 88 thousand for the crime of illegal storage and sale of polythene.

The operation was conducted by the mobile court of the Sylhet district office of the Directorate of Environment on Monday (January 9).

This was confirmed by Director and Executive Magistrate Mohammad Emran Hossain of the Sylhet Divisional Office of the Directorate of Environment. He led this campaign.

Mohammad Emran Hossain said that the operation was conducted in Kalighat of the metropolis on the basis of secret information. During the operation, a total of 6 shops and godowns were found stocked with banned polythene shopping bags.
