Big brother is coming home from Malaysia after a long time. There is no limit to the joy of anyone in the family including the parents, brothers, sisters, sisters-in-law of the incoming expatriate. Sadia of Kamalganj went to Dhaka airport to bring forward the expatriate elderly with father, younger brother, husband and children who are in the country.
After receiving his elder brother at the airport, Mahananda left for Kulaura in Moulvibazar on Friday night. This happiness turned into sadness at 3 in the night in a road accident at Madhavpur Shahpur. 5 people including husband, child, younger brother and car driver died in this incident. Sadia’s joyous journey turns into sadness. Mourning is going on in Madanagar of Hajipur union of Kulaura and Verachar village of Kamalganj in this incident. Three husbands, wives and children of the same family of Kamalganj, who died in a road accident, were laid to rest side by side.
The family members of the deceased said that Aklishur Rahman Raju, son of Nurul Islam of Madanagar village in Hajipur Union of Kulaura, was staying in Malaysia for many days for work. He landed at Dhaka’s Shahjalal International Airport last Friday. 8 people including her father Nurul Islam, younger sister Sadia Begum, sister-in-law Abdus Salam in Kamalganj, niece Habiba, younger brother Shihab went to the airport to bring her forward. They go to a Noha micro residence. On his way back home, Abdus Salam (37) died on the spot in a head-on collision with a sand-laden truck at Shahpur of Madhavpur upazila on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway on Friday night. Salam’s wife Sadia (27), daughter Habiba (3) and Atiqur Rahman Shihab (15) died on the way to the hospital. The driver of the car, Sadir Mia (30) of Alinagar village of Prithimpasha union, died in the incident.
The injured expatriate Raju, his father Nurul Islam and 4 others are now undergoing treatment at Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
The body of deceased Salam arrived at his village Bherarchar village in Kamalganj on Saturday afternoon. Then a heartbreaking scene unfolded after wife Sadia and baby Habiba’s body arrived at his house in Kamalganj from Kulaura. A shadow of mourning fell over the entire area, said neighbor Jewel Ahmed. He said that after Maghrib prayers on Saturday, the bodies of husband, wife and children were buried in their family cemetery next to the mosque of Bherarchar village.
Abdus Salam has 6 brothers and three sisters. He was the elder of the brothers. He was a grocer by profession.
Meanwhile, the expatriate’s brother Atiqur Rahman Shihab, who died in the accident, has been buried in the Madanagar family graveyard in Kulaura and the car driver Sadir Mia has been buried in Alinagar village of Kulaura.
