2 policemen withdrawn on charges of extortion in Sylhet

Two policemen have been withdrawn (closed) on the charges of extortion from stone-carrying tractors and trolleys and being attacked by the workers in Bholaganj, Companyganj, Sylhet, a closed stone quarry. They were withdrawn and attached to the Sylhet police line on Friday night.
The accused policemen are Bholaganj outpost policemen (constables) Suman Mia and Shahriar Hossain.
On the night of December 24, Constables Suman and Shahriar were attacked while collecting toll from a trolley loaded with stones. After learning about this incident, Bholaganj police outpost in-charge SI Shahab Uddin made a general diary against them. He mentioned in the diary that those two policemen often went to different places in Bholaganj without informing the officer in charge. They did not obey any kind of chain of command. After investigating the fact of the incident, they were withdrawn.
Sylhet Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (Kompaniganj-Goainghat Circle) Prabhas Kumar Singh confirmed the matter. He said that the two constables were locked up for not following the rules.
