Administration operation for illegal quarrying of stones from government places in Sreepur

The upazila administration has conducted an operation for illegally digging deep pits from public places and residences in Sreepur Pathar Quarry, Alu Bagan, Mokampunji and Naljuri areas of Jaintapur Upazila.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and District Magistrate Ripamani Devi conducted this operation on Wednesday (January 4) at 1 pm. Jaintapur Union Parishad Chairman Fakhrul Islam, UP Member Nazir Ahmad and officials of Jaintapur Sadar Land Office were also present.
During the raid, Abdul Hannan’s pit was raided along the Sylhet Tamabil Jaflong highway in Alu-Bagan area. Malik and his accomplices escaped into the pit. Abdul Hannan has been digging and quarrying stones illegally for a long time. In the past, the administration conducted raids on his pits and collected cash fines. The administration seized electric peas along with water shell machines from pits used for stone quarrying. Besides, some equipment used for stone extraction was seized from some other pits.
In this regard, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and District Magistrate Ripamani Devi said that some local businessmen are illegally quarrying stones by destroying the environment of the area. At various times we stopped quarrying by carrying out raids. He said, understanding the opportunity, this circle has become active again in stone extraction. Regular operations will be conducted against them. A case will be registered against those involved in illegal stone quarrying.
