BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan said, democracy is not a vehicle to get power, who do we want to deceive. The people who trust us so much are full of hope There is nothing as big a sin, as big a crime as cheating them. And this government is cheating the people. Our constitution talks about socialism, but we are practicing free market economy.

He said these things while addressing the bi-annual conference of Bangladesh Muslim League at Abdus Salam Hall of National Press Club on Monday afternoon. Sheikh Zulfikar Bulbul Chowdhury was announced as the president and Nazrul Islam as the general secretary in the conference.

Addressing the ruling Awami League, BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan said, arresting the leaders and activists of the opposition party will not win the movement, it will not come to power. They (Awami League) know this. Even after knowing they are making the same mistake. Does power make people so blind?

He said, those of us who were in the liberation war, probably regret more. With what thought, with what thought, with what hope I risked my life. What else did I get? How many colors, how many varieties we heard, Bangladesh will be golden bangla. What will be done to Bangladesh? Digital Bangladesh will be done. I heard that Bangladesh will be made smart now. I have seen famine in that country, I have seen lawlessness, I have seen mismanagement. In the end, I saw the lack of democracy in that country. I saw a one-party system. None of these are as valuable as gold.

He also said that it is said that there is democracy in the country, but the opportunity to practice democracy is not being given. Those who killed democracy and established a one-party system now claim to be the champions of democracy. Then it hurts. Democracy is not a vehicle to get power. Election is the vehicle of democracy. Democracy will be established through elections. You cannot say that you will establish democracy by destroying that election.
