In Shaistaganj, the festival of cutting soil and extracting sand from the cropland and Khoai river is going on. After the mobile court raids stopped for a day or two, but the vampires started again. From early morning to late night, dredgers and excavators are used to cut soil and pile sand from different crop lands of the upazila and the banks of the Khoai River. And these tractors, lorries have been supplying to different places. On the one hand, the government is losing crores of revenue and on the other hand, various roads are breaking down and turning into ditches.

It can be seen on the surface, the soil is being cut from Bishwa Road Talukgari, Biramchar, New Bridge, Old Police Station, Nijgaon, Lenjapara. On the other hand, sand is being extracted from different areas including Char Charhamua, Sudiakhla, New Bridge, Puranbazar of Khoai River. And as a result of these sand extraction, the new bridge and the old market bridge are under threat. Any time the collapse may cut off the communication with Sylhet. The people of Shaistaganj have demanded to take immediate action in this regard.
