Member of the BNP standing committee. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain said, people are involved in our movement and have taken to the streets. People are saying that this new dictatorship cannot survive in power. The time of Awami League government is over. All our patriotic forces will unite and bring down the dictatorial Awami League government, God willing.

He said these things in the speech of the chief guest at a human chain in front of the National Press Club on Monday afternoon.

Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) organized this human chain to demand the unconditional release of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas, Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and other leaders at various levels.

DAB President Professor Dr. Under the chairmanship of Harun Al Rashid and secretary of the office Dr. Under the direction of Md. Fakhruzzaman Fakhrul, BNP Chairperson’s advisor Professor Dr. Farhad Halim donor, the central leader of DAB. MA Salim, Dr. Sirajul Islam, Dr. Mosaddek Hossain Biswas Dumbell, Dr. Zahirul Islam Shakeel, Acting Secretary General Dr. Mehdi Hasan, Dr. Syed Mehbub Ul Qadir, Dr. Sheikh Farhad, Dr. Anwar Hossain Mukul, Biplabuzzaman Biplab of Amtab, Bilkis Jahan of Nurses Association, Gholam Mawla Shahin of Dhaka Metropolitan South Youth Dal and others.

Doctors were present in the human chain – Dr. Erfanul Haque Siddiqui, Dr. Md. Zafar Iqbal, Dr. Nilofa Yasmin, Dr. Fakir Walid Shah, Dr. Md. Adnan Hassan Masud, Dr. Md. Ziaur Rahman, Dr. Md. Abu Nasser, Dr. Ershad Ahsan Sohail, Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Dr. AK Azad, Dr. Mamun, Dr. Salauddin Al Azad Sohag, Dr. Moshiur Rahman Kajal, Dr. Sifat, Dr. Arafat Rahman Pavel, Dr. Masud Rana, Dr. Labid Rahman and others.

In the speech of the chief guest. Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain said that our Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas were arrested on false charges even though they were not accused in the case. Not only that, brutal crackdown has been carried out at the central office of BNP around our mass gathering. Which no one can think of in independent Bangladesh. Looted and ransacked the office. Around 450 activists were arrested together.

He said that people participated spontaneously and made the rally successful. The government wanted to thwart the mass gathering with its pet police force. Road blockades and transport strikes. More than 9 workers lost their lives. However, our departmental and Dhaka public meetings could not be organized. Instead it turned into a sea of people.

Khandaker Musharraf said that the government is running the country in a fascist manner. Commodity prices are unbridled. The middle class has become impoverished. That’s why people don’t want to see this government in power anymore.

He said, today the people have raised their voice and this government should be dismissed. That is why we have announced ten-point demands on behalf of the people including the resignation of the government, elections under a non-partisan neutral government, standing against corruption. Today people have come to the field. On December 24, the police blocked various places across the country. A man named Abdur Rashid was shot dead in Panchgarh. However, the mass procession could not be stopped. InshaAllah, the mass march in Dhaka on December 30 will be successful.

The top leader of BNP said that our journey has started with success. The people will throw out this government through a popular uprising in the collective movement of the people. In the past, the dictator Ershad, Ayub was dismissed by the people. Recently in Sri Lanka the people have thrown out their dictatorial government there. InshAllah, the people are involved in our movement and have taken to the streets. They say this new dictatorship cannot survive in power. Their time is up. We all patriotic forces will unite and bring down the dictatorial government.
