Construction of structures on government land is totally illegal: Mayor Arif

Sylhet CC Corporation Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury said that it is completely illegal to construct any type of structure on government land without the approval of the appropriate authorities. Especially the construction of structures by occupying the land next to the road creates disruption in public traffic. Encroachment that spoils the beauty of both sides of the road cannot be allowed to continue.
He said these things at the end of the illegal construction operation on both sides of the Islampur Sylhet-Jaflong highway in the extended area of Sylhet City Corporation on Sunday (December 25). Sisik Mayor said that every day countless tourists travel along this road of Sylhet to Hazrat Shahparan (RA) shrine, Jaflong and other natural tourist centers. But for a long time, the encroachers have illegally built various types of structures on the land on both sides of this road. Due to the construction of these unplanned structures, the movement of vehicles on the road is disrupted.
Sisik mayor said that this campaign will continue, Sisik has started city cleaning work in these areas. Besides, he urged not to throw garbage everywhere to protect the services of the city. In the operation, buildings on both sides of the road from Sylhet MC College area to Islampur Bazar were evacuated. At the same time, CSIC works as a cleaning agent. Officials of different branches of CSIC and local people were present in the campaign.
