Nahiduzzaman Nishad, an independent candidate of Gaibandha-5 (Saghata-Phulchari) constituency, has announced to withdraw from the election due to the fear of rigging.
He announced his withdrawal from the election through a press conference at Bogra Press Club on Sunday (December 25). Nahiduzzaman Nishad contested the elections as an independent candidate with the apple symbol.
In the press conference, he said that the Election Commission had promised to conduct a fair, beautiful and impartial election. But he could not do it on October 12. The commission has mocked through vote robbery. A particular candidate was coerced, threatened and assaulted by activists and external terrorists.
He further said that the common voters were thrown out of the polling stations and voted themselves by establishing a reign of terror. People of Saghata-Phulchari have witnessed various misdeeds including attacks on me and other rival candidates. The commission did not take any action against the identified vote robbers. So the commission wants to make a farce again by announcing the poll schedule again. I also demand my security deposit back.’
