One person was killed and 3 others were injured when a CNG autorickshaw overturned after being hit by a speeding pickup van at Bejura in Madhavpur upazila of Habiganj district.

The accident took place on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway of the upazila at a place called Bejura on Thursday (December 22) morning.

Deceased Shashi Sabar (50) son of Shambhu Sabar of Surma tea garden.

The injured are Dilip (30), Hridoy Sarkar (35) and Santosh Sabar (40), residents of the same garden.

The injured were given first aid at Madhavpur Upazila Health Complex.

Main Uddin Bhuiyan, OC of Shaestganj Highway Police Station, said that the killer pickup has been seized and taken into custody. The injured are being treated at Madhavpur Upajala Health Complex.

The deceased will be sent to Habiganj Sadar Hospital for postmortem. Injured Dilip said they were going to Madhavpur in an autorickshaw due to an accident. The autorickshaw overturned when it was hit by a speeding pickup van coming from the opposite direction near Bejura.
