Journalist Alam Khan attacked by terrorist in Narsingdi
Staff Reporter: Former Convener of Shibpur Press Club of Narsingdi District, Member of Dhaka Press Club, President of Shibpur Upazila Branch of National Environmental Human Rights Society and Senior Journalist Alam Khan were victims of terrorist attack. A group of terrorists suddenly attacked him in the Gangajoli Bridge area of Jayanagar Union on Wednesday afternoon. The attack was carried out by the terrorists when the journalist was on his way to CNG for his professional work. The matter was immediately reported to Shibpur police station incharge Salauddin.
According to eyewitnesses and locals, senior journalist Alam Khan was on his way to gather news in CNG when he reached Gangajali Bridge area of Jayanagar Union, when a group of terrorists stopped his CNG. At that time, Lutfar, son of Abul Hashem of Sujatpur area and a fishmonger, attacked journalist Roni Alam Khan, a terrorist who came in Honda.
Local residents said that the attackers are drug dealers and drug workers. Lutfar and Roni Gongra may have carried out the attack because of anti-narcotics newspaper coverage and prior enmity. In addition, this attack may also be on the orders of Joynagar Union Awami League General Secretary Muktar Master.
Locals also said that journalist Alam Khan is a simple person. He has a good relationship with everyone. Also, in 2018, Alam Khan was devastated when his college-educated son went to the country of no return. He often suffers from this. When news of the attack on senior journalist Alam Khan spread, the journalists expressed their anger and demanded the arrest of those involved and punishment.
In connection with the attack on him, the founder and chairman of the National Environmental Human Rights Society, editor of Daily Azkal, poet, journalist and essayist Atiq Aziz has expressed strong anger and condemnation of the incident and demanded the arrest of those involved and exemplary punishment.
Notably, senior journalist Alam Khan worked as District Representative of Daily Bangladesh Time in 2010 and Daily Morning Glory in 2014. Also, in 2021, he participated in the Dhaka Press Club elections in the Bangladesh Press Council as Finance Secretary.
He was convener of Shivpur Press Club three times, currently a member of Shibpur Press Club.
