Bail denied to Mirza Fakhrul and Abbas, ordered to undergo treatment

The court again rejected the bail application of the party’s secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and member of the standing committee Mirza Abbas in the case of clash with the police in front of the central office of BNP in Nayapaltan. However, being a political leader, a respectable person, the court ordered the jail authorities to give them maximum medical treatment.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md. on Wednesday (December 21) afternoon. Achaduzzaman’s court gave this order after the hearing.

Supreme Court lawyers Zainul Abedin, Masood Ahmed Talukder conducted the bail hearing on behalf of the accused. On behalf of the state, Dhaka Metropolitan Public Prosecutor Abdullah Abu opposed bail. After hearing both sides, the court ordered to deny bail.

Earlier this morning, Syed Zainul Abedin Mejbah applied for bail on their behalf. The court fixed 3 pm for the hearing on the bail application.

It is known that on the afternoon of December 7, there was a clash between BNP leaders and activists in front of the BNP central office in Nayapaltan. One person was shot and died. Many were injured. Later during the raid, BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, campaign secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP convener Aman Ullah Aman, special assistant to the chairperson Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas were arrested by the police. In that incident, the police filed a case under the Explosive Act and Assault on Police at Paltan Model Police Station.

During the raid, BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, campaign secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP convener Aman Ullah Aman, special assistant to the chairperson Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas were arrested by the police. The court granted bail to BNP leaders Aman Ullah Aman and Abdul Quader Jewel among the 450 arrested. 434 people including Rizvi, Annie were sent to jail. The other 14 accused were sent to jail after two days of remand.

Then the police arrested Mirza Fakhrul and Mirza Abbas at around three o’clock on December 8. Then on December 8 at noon, they were arrested by the DB Police.
