A rickshaw passenger named Shafiqul Islam (35) was killed after being hit by a passenger bus in Palashbari upazila of Gaibandha. Meanwhile, 3 other people including the van driver were injured.

The incident took place on Monday (December 19) around 8:30 pm at a place called Harinabari-Kumargari on the Gaibandhar-Gobindganj road.

The deceased Shafiqul is the son of deceased Kachar Mia of Harinabari village.

According to local residents, Shafiqul and two other passengers were returning home from Harinabari market in a rickshaw. On the way, when reaching Kumargari area, a bus carrying passengers from Gaibandha to Dhaka hit the van. Shafiqul Islam died on the spot.

Confirming this information, Harinabari Police Investigation Center in-charge Raihan Ali said that the injured have been rescued and admitted to Gaibandha Sadar Hospital. It was not possible to arrest the fatal bus. The official could not immediately identify Ahed.
