BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and the party’s Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas have been taken to the DB office for questioning, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) DB Chief Harun Or Rashid. He told this information to the media on Friday morning.

DB chief Haroon Or Rashid said that BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and the party’s standing committee member Mirza Abbas have been taken to the DB office for questioning.

BNP press wing member Shayrul Kabir Khan complained that members of the intelligence police took these two party leaders from their homes on Thursday night. He said that the DB police arrested Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir from Uttara house around 3 am and Mirza Abbas from Shahjahanpur house in Dhaka at the same time.

In this regard, a senior police officer told Samakal at 9:30 am on Friday that two of them have been taken to the DB office. However, the police did not say anything about whether they were taken for questioning or detained.

Mirza Fakhrul and Mirza Abbas are accused of arrest-

Earlier, the police raided the BNP office at night after the clash in Nayapaltan of the capital on Wednesday. After the raid, 160 sacks of rice, khichuri, cooking materials and 15 unexploded bombs were recovered from the BNP office.

There is only one day left for BNP’s mass meeting on December 10. The venue of the rally has been under discussion for several days. After the bloodshed, a new proposal has finally come from the police and BNP regarding the rally venue. This time, BNP wants to hold a mass meeting at Kamalapur Stadium. And the police has proposed the ground of Government Bangla College in Mirpur as a new venue.

Earlier on Thursday night after a meeting with Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Khandkar Golam Farooq, a BNP delegation visited Kamalapur Stadium and Mirpur Bangla College grounds. The delegation led by Mirza Abbas, a member of the party’s standing committee and the chief adviser of the Dhaka divisional mass meeting, went to the ground early on Friday to determine the possible meeting place.

Later, Mirza Abbas told reporters, “I saw two fields. After discussing with the standing committee, I will decide later. BNP workers are not safe anywhere. Can’t make a decision.’

However, after a two-hour meeting with Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Khandaker Golam Farooq at 9:30 p.m., BNP Vice Chairman Barkat Ullah Bulu said, ‘We will visit two places. We will gather wherever we like. We will tell the police which field we like at night.
