Three people, including two members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), were killed in a road accident while chasing a drug dealer in Magura.

The accident took place in the Shaitrish Bazar area of Magura Sadar while chasing a drug dealer around 4 am on Friday (December 9).

The deceased are RAB members Anisur Rahman and Mahidul and the driver of the pickup van. However, the name of the driver could not be confirmed.

Another RAB member was seriously injured in the accident. The injured were taken to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the capital.

Magura Sadar police station OC Mostafizri Rahman said that Jhenaidah RAB-6 patrol team signaled a pickup van at the check post. But the driver of the pickup van carrying the shipment of Phencidil ignored the signal and started running towards Magura. At that time, when the RAB patrol team chased the pickup van and reached Shaitrish Bazar area of Magura Sadar, two vehicles collided. A RAB member and the driver of the pickup van were killed on the spot. Another member of RAB died after being taken to the hospital.

He said that another RAB member was taken to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the capital with serious injuries.
