Working for better life of people: Prime Minister

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina mentioned that parents and siblings have lost everything and are struggling only to change the fate of the people of Bangladesh. He said, with the spirit of the liberation war that my father liberated the country, I am working to put smiles on the faces of the suffering people and for the better life of the people.
He said that we are working to implement the spirit and ideals of the liberation war with which the people of this country took up arms and won the victory at the call of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib.
He said this while addressing the public meeting of Cox’s Bazar District Awami League at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. Bangladesh Television (BTV) and various broadcast media broadcast the meeting live.
Awami League general secretary and bridge minister Obaidul Quader, Awami League presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak, joint general secretary Mahbub ul Alam Hanif and other central and district level leaders are present in the public meeting.
Sheikh Hasina said, I am able to continue working for the country because the people elected me repeatedly. I thank you. The people of Cox’s Bazar also voted and elected me. Your vote was not wasted.
Questioning what Jamaat-BNP has given to the people of this country, Sheikh Hasina said, arson, murder, money laundering have given them.
He said, on August 21, 2004, Tareq-Khalida Zia Gong attacked our peace rally at noon with a grenade. Battlefield grenades were thrown at us. 22 activists including Ivy Rahman died. I was saved by the grace of God.
Before this, the public meeting officially started around 12 noon with recitation of Holy Quran, Gita and Tripitaka. Advocate Faridur Islam Chowdhury, president of public assembly and president of Cox’s Bazar district Awami League, spoke at the beginning.
Awami League and organizational leaders showed great enthusiasm during the public meeting. Cox’s Bazar has become a city of banners-festoons and pylons. Leaders and activists came in groups to rally and chant slogans. The mood of the festival was seen among them.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reached Cox’s Bazar this morning on a one-day visit to participate in several events. He inaugurated the International Fleet Review at Inani beach at 10:30 pm.
