Police-BNP clash in Nayapaltan: 1 killed

A person named Maqbul Hossain was killed in a police clash with the party’s leaders and activists in front of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) head office in Nayapaltan of the capital. He died on Wednesday around 4 pm while undergoing treatment in Dubai.

Dhaka Medical College (DMH) Hospital Police Outpost Incharge (Inspector) Bachchu Mia confirmed this information. He said, “The victim’s body has a shotgun wound.”

Mostafizur Rahman, publicity secretary of Jagannath University Chhatra Dal, said, “Maqbul Hossain was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital from Nayapaltan on Wednesday at quarter past 4. Later, the doctor there declared him dead.

From Wednesday morning, the leaders and activists began to gather around the BNP’s Dhaka metropolitan mass rally on December 10. On the other hand, security has been strengthened in the BNP central office and its surrounding areas since morning. As the day wore on, more police were deployed in the area. At 3:30 a.m. BNP leaders and activists clashed with the police. Police fired teargas, teargas and sound grenades to disperse the activists.
