World Soil Day celebrated in Chapainawabganj
Abdullah Al Mamun, Chapainawabganj: World Soil Day was celebrated in Chapainawabganj on Monday with the theme “Soil: Where Food Begins”. Deputy Commissioner AKM Galiv Khan inaugurated the program by blowing balloons in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office at 10:30 am.
After a short rally organized by the District Administration and District Soil Resources Development Institute, a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the District Commissioner.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) agriculturist Ahmed Mahbub-ul-Islam presided over the meeting as special guests, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Roshan Ali, Chief Scientific Officer of Regional Horticulture Research Center Dr. Mokhlesur Rahman, Deputy Director of District Agriculture Extension Directorate Dr. Palash Sarkar, District Livestock Officer Dr. Mostafizur Rahman and others. Dr. Nurul Islam, Chief Scientific Officer of Soil Resource Development Institute Regional Office, Chapainawabganj, presented the welcome speech and keynote speech at the event.
The speakers said, if the soil body is healthy, the crop will be good and the soil fertility will be maintained. Crops must be produced through sustainable soil management. Farmers should be more aware to protect soil fertility. Detailed knowledge must be taken to determine how best to control soil erosion. Soil should be tested
