Sylhet District Jubo League President Shamim Ahmad VP has taken oath as the Chairman of Sylhet’s Osmaninagar Upazila Parishad.

He was officially sworn in as the newly elected chairman at the Divisional Commissioner’s office at 11:30 am on Thursday (December 1).

The Divisional Commissioner of Sylhet read the oath to him in the hall of the Sylhet Divisional Commissioner’s office. Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain.

Osmaninagar Upazila Vice Chairman Md. Ana Mia and Female Vice Chairman Jahanara Begum also took oath.

Members of Sylhet Zilla Parishad and leaders of Awami League and Jubo League were present during the swearing in ceremony.

Divisional Commissioner Dr. Mosharraf Hossain said in his congratulatory speech, “You young leaders will play a leading role in the creation of Bangabandhu’s dream of Sonar Bangla by fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to you by the people with honesty and integrity.” Finally, he thanked the residents of Osmaninagar upazila.

By the way; Osmaninagar Upazila Parishad elections were held on November 2. Awami League nominated candidate Sylhet District Jubo League President Md. Shamim Ahmad VP was elected privately in that election.

He got 28 thousand 996 votes in the boat symbol. His closest rival, the expelled Joint General Secretary of Upazila BNP, Kamrul Islam, got 14,616 votes in the horse symbol.
