A group of influential people beat and injured father Samuj Ali (50) for allegedly marrying his daughter elsewhere in Shaistaganj’s Nishapat. He was admitted to Habiganj Sadar Hospital with serious injuries. Not only that, his daughter was expelled from the village by the ward members and matabbars. This incident has created a commotion. Local residents have demanded action against the culprits for such a heinous incident.

According to local and injured sources, Hafiza Akhtar (19), daughter of Suruj Ali, son of deceased Zahur Ali of Nishapat Karkar Hati village, was married to Tahir Chowdhury of Shakir Mohammad village of Chunarughat upazila two months ago. Two or three people including Wahid Mia’s son Sujan Mia (25), Tota Mia’s son Chalek Mia Membar (45) got angry with them because of why they got married to her, and because Samuj Mia was innocent, they forbade her daughter Hafiza from coming to the village. And member Sahid Mia. Fearing them, the girl gave up coming to Pitralaya. A few days ago, when Hafiza came home after hearing about her father’s illness, the mentioned people beat her up and chased her away from the village. When a complaint was filed at the Shaistaganj police station, the police resolved the matter. Still they did not stop.
Samuj Ali was taken from his house at 7 pm on Sunday, 3/4 people including Malek member, Sujan, Razzak Mia’s son Rahim beat him and left him on the street. Local people rescued him and admitted him to Habiganj Sadar Hospital.

Meanwhile, Hafiza is also not found. Injured Samuj Ali said that Hafiza was not married to the person of their choice because the said people were upset with her. A case has been filed in the police station.

SI Jasim of Shaestaganj police station said that following the complaint, I went to the spot and took information. The operation to nab the culprits continues.
