In a meeting on modern road city and road design in Moulvibazar, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md. Shahab Uddin said that everyone should work to control noise pollution in the city. He said, “Awareness should be created among the drivers to stop blowing the horn unnecessarily. He also said that everyone including the municipal authorities and the police should be sincere in reducing the traffic congestion and modernization of the cities.

Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Md. Shahab Uddin Ahmed said these things at a rally titled ‘Modern City and Road Ideas’ organized by Moulvibazar Municipality and District Police on Saturday afternoon.

Moulvibazar District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Zakaria and Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Ziaur Rahman presided over the presentation of a publication titled ‘Modern Roads and Road Ideas’ containing information images of Moulvibazar city in a gathering.

In his welcome address, Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Hasan Mohammad Nasser Rikabder said, “Police are working to stop CNG TomTom auto-rickshaws and rickshaws from plying on the same road. The district police will make arrangements to open the footpaths of the city for common people.”
Journalists, road and township department executive engineers, water development board officials, brave freedom fighters, student-teachers, public representatives, CNG and bus drivers’ associations and workers’ representatives presented their views in the meeting. The president of the Minibus Workers’ Union demanded the construction of another new terminal in the city. Speaking as a special guest at the event, Member of Parliament Neshar Ahmad Chowdhury urged everyone to work together to build a modern city. In the speech of the special guest Mr. Mofiz Uddin Ahmed, DIG of Sylhet Range, said that if the sidewalks of the city and town are clean and open, it is easy for the general public to walk. He said that by installing CCTV cameras in the city, it will be easier to control the traffic in the city.
Moulvibazar Municipality Mayor Fazlur Rahman thanked the district police for organizing this peaceful rally. He requested the authorities concerned not to issue new licenses to CNG autorickshaws and TomToms in the city. In order to solve various problems in the city, the Sudhi assembly recommended the issues of clearing sidewalks on both sides of the road, stopping excess traffic and illegal parking, zebra crossing, lane marking, stop line, no arrow marking, traffic signal, intersection fencing, construction of passenger shelters. .
Besides, it was proposed in the assembly to stop illegal CNG-powered auto-rickshaws, TomToms and increase public transport to facilitate inter-district communication without giving them new registration. Moulvibazar District Deputy Commissioner Mir Nahid Ahsan, Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila Chairman Kamal Hossain and others were also present as special guests in the gathering.
Mayors of other municipalities of the district, Union Parishad chairman, UP members, municipal councilors, officials of various government departments, teachers-students and representatives of various professions were present in the gathering.
