Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ordered not to extend the period of the project. Also, the Prime Minister directed that no project can be done which will bring disaster to the nature.
He said this at the National Economic Council (ECNEC) meeting at the NEC conference room of the Ministry of Planning in the capital on Tuesday (November 22).
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting at 10 am. In this, the Prime Minister said that bridges should always be built in the name of rivers.
In the briefing at the end of the meeting, Planning Minister MA Mannan said that the Prime Minister has also instructed Ekne not to take up any project that harms nature.
In response to a question, the minister admitted that due to the weakness of the government institutions in the implementation of the project, the period had to be extended repeatedly.
He also said that the government is seeing a positive situation in inflation and remittance flow. In the meeting, Eknek approved a total of eight projects worth about Tk 5,000 crore, including the project to protect coastal cities from the effects of climate change at a cost of Tk 2,580 crore. Among these, a project worth Tk 17.98 million was approved for modernization of prison security in Mymensingh and Chittagong.
