Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, “Although the world is going through a global crisis and economic recession, the country’s economy is active and vibrant. I hope that Bangladesh will move forward by facing the global crisis with the cooperation of everyone.” Our economy is still running and vibrant amidst the global economic recession. But with everyone’s cooperation, we will overcome the situation. He expressed this optimism while addressing a reception on the occasion of Armed Forces Day at Senakunj in Dhaka Cantonment today.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, “Although the world recognizes Bangladesh as a role model for development, the country is facing some problems due to the coronavirus, Russia-Ukraine war, sanctions and counter-sanctions. In order to overcome the crisis, every inch of land should be brought under cultivation for own food production. The whole world is going through economic recession from USA, Europe and Great Britain and Britain has already announced that it is facing economic recession. Pray to Allah that we can save Bangladesh from economic recession and famine.’

The Prime Minister said, “When the world is in turmoil due to the coronavirus, the world has been further disturbed by the Russia-Ukraine war due to which the prices of various commodities including fuel, edible oil, wheat, corn have increased manifold along with the cost of transportation. The government is trying its best to keep people away from suffering. We are trying to prevent the people of our country from suffering from the global crisis. So, the government is buying goods from different parts of the world at higher prices.

Having won the 2008 election again, his government has been in charge of running the country for three consecutive terms, the Prime Minister said, ‘Today we are able to develop the country because the democratic trend has continued in Bangladesh. Unfortunately, however, the Russia-Ukraine war and the sanctions surrounding it led to a global recession and abnormal price increases as soon as the coronavirus went away.
