Another cousin was killed by stabbing his cousin in a trivial incident in Jokiganj, Sylhet. The incident took place on Sunday (November 20) around 6:00 pm in Majband village of Sultanpur union of Jokiganj upazila.

The deceased teenager is Mansoor Ahmad (14), son of deceased Abdus Salam of the same village.

According to local and police sources, Mansoor had a dispute with Ashikur Rahman (15), son of deceased Tera Mia, over fishing in the house’s pond during the day. According to the source of this incident, there was a fight between Ashiq and Mansoor near Majband Mosque on Sunday evening. At one stage of the fight, Ashiq stabbed Mansoor and seriously injured him. At that time, people came to Mansoor’s screams and rescued him and took him to Jokiganj Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

After the incident, local UP member Shamim Ahmad with the help of locals caught the accused Ashiq and handed him over to the police.

UP member Shamim Ahmad said that immediately after the incident, he arrested the accused Ashiqur Rahman and informed the police. Later the police came and took away the accused.

Atiqur Rahman, assistant officer of the emergency department of the Upazila Health Complex, said that Mansoor was brought to the hospital in a dead state. He has several stab wounds on his body.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jokiganj police station. Mosharraf Hossain said that there was a quarrel between them during the day about fishing in the house pond. Ashikur Rahman stabbed cousin Mansoor after this incident. Mansoor died in this. Police have arrested the accused.

He said that the body of the deceased teenager will be sent to the morgue for autopsy.
