Lover sentenced to death in case of murder of lover in Madaripur

After 14 years in Madaripur, the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge sentenced her boyfriend Shahidul Mollah to death in the case of suffocating her lover Farida Begum after promising marriage in 2008. At the same time another fine of 50 thousand rupees has been imposed.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Lailatul Ferdous gave this order on Tuesday (November 15) afternoon.
According to the source of the case, Madaripur Sadar Upazila of Mahisherchar village of Pachkhola Union. Karim Kari’s divorced daughter Farida Begum (22) had an affair with Shahidul Molla (25), son of Mohammad Molla of Branmandi village in the same upazila. Due to this relationship, Farida Begum went missing on May 6, 2008 while traveling with her lover Shahidul Molla. The next day, police recovered Farida Begum’s body from a garden in Dhuasa village of Kalkini upazila. In this incident, on May 7, the victim’s brother Hannan Kari filed a case in Kalkini Police Station against Shahidul Mollah and unknown defendants. Later, the investigating officer of the case, the then sub-inspector of Kalkini police station, Mohammad Harun-ur-Rashid, was given the responsibility of investigating the incident. After the investigation, on June 22, 2009, the accused Shahidul Mollah was the only accused and submitted the charge sheet to the court. Gradually, the court took the testimony of 12 people including the investigating officer of the case. After 14 long years, based on the witness evidence, the accused Shahidul Molla was sentenced to death and fined Tk 50,000.
Hannan Kari, the plaintiff in the case, said that after 14 years, I got the verdict in the murder case of my sister Farida Begum. We are satisfied with this judgment of the court. Now quickly demand the execution of this judgment.
Madaripur Public Prosecutor (PP) Md. Siddiqur Rahman Singh said, we have been able to prove that Shahidul Molla killed his lover Farida Begum. Therefore, the court ordered the execution of the accused Shahidul Molla. We are happy with this verdict. Defendant’s lawyer. Rezaul Karim said, we have been deprived of justice. We will appeal against this judgment in the high court.
