Innocent murder of Jaintapur, case filed in Kanighat, no arrest

A case has been filed in connection with the murder of Masum Ahmad (22), a class 10 student of Amina-Helali Technical College in broad daylight at Chatul Bazar in Kanighat due to a dispute over a cricket game in Chhatarkhai village of Jaintapur Upazila of Sylhet. However, even though a case has been registered, the police have not been able to arrest anyone involved so far.
On Sunday (November 6), the victim’s father, Abdul Khaliq of Chhatarkhai village, filed this case as the plaintiff in the Kanighat police station, naming 15 people and naming 4/5 unknown people as defendants. Which case no-04/2022. Dilip Kant Nath, OC (Investigation) of Kanighat police station confirmed the fact of filing the case. He said that the operation to arrest the accused is continuing.
It is known that the relatives of the deceased broke down in tears after bringing the dead body to their home on Sunday (November 6). The air of the area became heavy with their cries. Bad Maghrib was completed at the local Chhatarkhai Eidgah ground. Thousands of people from the area participated in the funeral prayer and before the funeral, everyone demanded the quick arrest of the murderers involved in the murder of innocent Masum Ahmad and exemplary punishment.
Incidentally- Last Friday, while playing cricket in the field of Chhatarkhai village of Darbast Union of Jaintapur Upazila, Russell Ahmed, son of Babul Ahmed of the same village, beat and injured the deceased’s brother Khairul with a cricket bat. If there is tension between the people on both sides, the local jurors assured that the matter will be settled through arbitration. But last Saturday around 4:30 pm, Masum Ahmad and his father Abdul Khaliq came to Chatul Bazar in Kanaighat Upazila. There, 15/20 people including Babul Ahmad, his brother Nizam Uddin, Tafjjul Ali, Russell Ahmad, Kamrul Islam, who were coming from the east, ambushed them with sharp weapons and sticks. At that time, the assailants cut Masum Ahmad on the road with knives and daggers and beat him with a native stick-sota, causing serious bloody injuries in various parts of his body including his head. Later, seriously injured Masum Ahmad was rescued and taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
