England defeated Sri Lanka and entered the semi-finals

England beat Sri Lanka by 4 wickets in the Super Twelve match of T20 World Cup. With this victory, the English entered the semi-finals.
Sri Lanka won the toss and went into bat at the Sydney ground. The Lankans added 39 runs to the opening pair. Opener Kushal Mendis returned to Sajghar with 18 runs, but the other opener Pathun Nishanka played a great innings of 67 runs with five sixes and two fours from 45 balls.
England got off to a great start in reply. Jos Buttler and Alex Hales made a partnership of 75 runs. Buttler returned with 28 runs off 23 balls, but Hales’ 47 runs came off 30 balls. Ben Stokes played an innings of 42 runs from 30 balls to win the team.
English bowler Mark Wood took three wickets with 26 runs in three overs. Besides, Stokes, Mark Wood, Sam Curran and Adil Rashid took one wicket each. Lahiru Kumara, Wanindu Hasaranga and Dhananjaya de Silva took two wickets each for Sri Lanka. With this narrow victory, England will play in the last four as group runners-up. New Zealand won the group due to high run rate.
