A first class girl died tragically after being hit by an iron rod of an under-construction school building in Tahirpur. Usha Moni of the deceased student is the daughter of Anwar Hossain of Sreepur village of South Sreepur Union.

The tragic incident took place at Sreepur Government Primary School in Dakshin Sreepur Union of Upazila at around 9:30 am on Sunday (October 30).

UP member Dalim said that Usha Moni, a first class student of Lohar Rod School, fell on her head from the roof of the under-construction building of Sripur Government Primary School and the child immediately fell to the ground. When he was rescued and taken to Upazila Health Complex around 10:30 in the morning, the doctor on duty there declared him dead. There was no teacher in the school at the time of the incident.

Mofazzal Hossain, headmaster of Sripur Government Primary School, said that an iron rod fell on the head of schoolgirl Usha Moni from the roof of the third floor building of the school.

Tahirpur Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Mirza Riad Hasan said that schoolgirl Usha Moni died before she was brought to Tahirpur Upazila Health Complex.

Tahirpur police station officer-in-charge Syed Iftekhar Hossain confirmed the matter and said that the body of the schoolgirl has been brought into police custody.
