The body of fisherman Dhirendra Das (40), who went missing while fishing in the Sajnikhal section of Kodalia river in Sadar Union of Ajmiriganj, was recovered after about 21 hours.

On Friday (October 28) at 10 am, a diving team of Habiganj Fire Service carried out rescue operations in the river for about half an hour and recovered his body at 10:40 am.

Dhirendra Das is the son of Nilchan Das of Alalpur village of Ashtagram upazila of Kishoreganj.

Ariful Islam, Station Officer of Habiganj Fire Service, said that at ten in the morning, our team first tried once and failed. We managed to recover the dead body in the second attempt.

Incidentally, last Thursday (October 27) at two o’clock in the afternoon, six fishermen, including Dhirendra, were fishing in the river Kodalia, a branch of the Kushiara branch of the upazila’s Sadar Union. At that time, Dhirendra Das disappeared while lifting the net from the bottom of the river. His associates and locals failed to rescue Dhirendra after several attempts till evening. Later, on Friday morning, the fire service diving team came and recovered his body.
