Unable to bear the torture of garment worker husband Ashraful for dowry of Tk 30,000, wife Fatema returned to Pitralai with her childless son in her arms to save her life from Fatulla.

It is known that garment worker Md Ashraful Islam, son of Md Afchar Ali alias Anshar Ali of Pichhanpara area of ​​Bhavanipur village of Palashbari upazila of Gaibandha district, married the daughter of a person in Hijalgari village of Palashbari municipal area in 2019. After the marriage, Ashraful used to torture his wife physically and mentally for various reasons including dowry money with his wife and in-laws. At one point, after only three months of marriage, he forced his wife to divorce on January 7, 2020. Later on August 15, 2021, with the consent of both families, the dowry greedy Dhurandhar Ashraful II married Mocha Fatima Akhter, the school-going daughter of garment worker Md Zahidul Islam, a resident of Raigram in Palashbari municipal area, according to Islamic Sharia Shariat registry. After the marriage, the family of this couple lived well, but later the torture started.

Meanwhile, for the remaining 30,000 dowry and for no reason, the husband, mother-in-law, Nanad Rashida, Akalima Begum Ankhi continued physical and mental abuse and threatened to kill Budh Fatema, the victim’s bride and father, brother and family members said. When the level of their torture increased, the house bride Fatema moved from her husband’s house in Fatulla area of ​​Narayanganj with the help of a person known in the area along with her 6-month-old son to Raigram Baba’s house in Palashbari town area on October 22. Fatemar’s brother said that the next day, the husband filed a written complaint against the accused in Barisal Union Parishad No. 4 of Ashraful’s area.
