A motorcycle rider named Monir Swarnakar (35) died after being crushed by a tree in Charfashan upazila’s Hazariganj Union at around 7:30 pm on Monday (October 24).

According to local sources, Monir was passing by the spot on a motorcycle around 7:30 pm when he was crushed by a tree due to the storm and was seriously injured. Later, when he was taken to the hospital, the doctor declared him dead. Also, it has been reported that one person has been killed in tree-chopping in Bhola.

Meanwhile, an old woman named Bibi Khadija (80) died after being crushed by her house in Ward No. 5 of Bhola Daulatkhan Municipality. The officer-in-charge (OC) of Daulatkhan police station Zakir Hossain confirmed the death.

A mother and son died in a boat sinking due to Cyclone Sitrang on Monday night in Mohanpur area of ​​Saida Union of Sirajganj Sadar.

According to police sources, a housewife with two sons was returning home by boat around 9 pm yesterday with her family members. A boy died on the spot when the boat capsized in the storm. At that time, the other boy and his mother were rescued and taken to the hospital, where the doctor declared the mother also dead.

The two deceased are wife (35) and child (7) of Khokon Hossain of Mohanpur village.

Three members of the same family fell under a tree at Hesakhal area of ​​Comilla’s Nangalkot upazila on Monday (October 24) at around 10 pm in the wake of Cyclone Sitrang.

They are Nizam Uddin (28) of Hesakhal Khamarpara village, his wife Sathi Akter (24) and their 4 year old child Liza.

Hesakhal Union Parishad Chairman Iqbal Bahar Majumdar confirmed the death and said that a tree fell on their house when strong winds started at night. Three people died on the spot.

A hundred-year-old woman named Amena Khatun died in Sonakhali area of ​​Barguna Sadar Upazila on Monday (October 24) around 8:00 p.m. due to cyclone Sitrang.

The relatives of the deceased said that Amena Khatun was eating rice while preparing to go to the shelter. At that time, a chambal tree near the house uprooted and fell on his house. He was buried under the house. Later, relatives rescued him dead from under the house.

Also two more deaths were reported in Shariatpur and Narail.
