Dulal Mia, Sunamganj representative: A procession and discussion meeting was held in Sunamganj on the occasion of National Safe Road Day 2022, with the motto “Follow the law and return home safely”.
On Saturday morning, 22 October, on the occasion of the day, a colorful procession came out from Sunamganj Heritage Museum premises and circled the important roads of the city. Later, a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner.
Executive Engineer of Sunamganj Roads and Public Paths. Under the chairmanship of Ashraful Islam and moderated by BRTA motor vehicle inspector Shafiqul Islam Russell, the chief guest’s speech was delivered by Deputy Commissioner Md. Jahangir Hossain.
Additional Superintendent of Police Parvez Alam Chowdhury, Additional District Magistrate AKM Abdullah Bin Rashid spoke as special guests in the meeting organized by District Administration, BRTA and Road Department Sunamganj. Among others, Mozzammel Haque, President of Sunamganj District Bus, Minibus, Microbus Owners Association, Sunamganj District spoke as special guests. General Secretary of Truck-Lorry, Covered Van Workers Union Noor Uddin, Mahim Talukdar of Sunamganj want safe road and others. Ashraful Hamid, Sub-Divisional Engineer of Road Department delivered the welcome address in the meeting.
In the speech of the chief guest, Deputy Commissioner Md. Jahangir Hossain said, “People from all walks of life, including the politicians of the country, are the passengers of the transport. The road must be kept safe for the sake of the passengers. We must drive in a conscious and healthy condition. The transport owners and drivers must think about this. The long-distance bus drivers must take adequate rest. In any condition, the tired body Can’t drive. Can’t talk on mobile phone while driving.”
The Deputy Commissioner also said, “Three-wheelers, CNG, auto-rickshaws do not come under the definition of transport. These vehicles cannot be allowed to ply on major roads. They are being sensitized gradually. They will ply on small village roads. Then major roads will be free and drivers can drive safely. . Small vehicles cannot be parked at the city center point. Action will be taken in consultation with all concerned.”
