Body of old man recovered from pond in Chunarughat

An old man’s body was recovered from a pond in Chunarughat upazila. Locals found the body floating in the pond early on Friday (October 21). After receiving the information, the police came and recovered the body.
The body was recovered from the pond of the house of a person named Insan of Hanaghari village of Satiyajuri union number 8 of the upazila. The old man’s name is Kurfan Ali (70). He was a resident of Ushainagar village and earned his living by supplying water to various shops including tea stalls in Sundarpur Bazar.
Locals said that when they went to fetch water from the pond as usual on Thursday afternoon, the two sons of that house saw Kurfan Ali going down to the pond to fetch shoes. Later, the team of Chunarughat Fire Service was informed about his disappearance. Even though the fire service team visited in the evening, rescue operations could not be carried out. According to the fire service team, the rescue work will be carried out by bringing a diving team from Habiganj at night.
But earlier on Friday morning, local residents saw Kurfan Ali’s body floating in the pond and informed the administration. He confirmed that the body is being recovered and sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
