At the end of the week-long trial, he was ordered to be remanded in custody. According to court sources, Asif Babu will be found guilty and given the final sentence on November 8.
Asif Babu has reportedly been convicted of indecent assault on a black woman in Salem City. He contacted the woman two years ago to rent a room.
The woman told the judges that Asif Babu advertised house rent on Facebook marketplace. The woman plans to take the room. On September 17, 2020, Asif Babu sexually assaulted the woman during the rent agreement signing meeting.
The woman’s 9-year-old daughter told jurors she awoke to the sound of “a lot of commotion” and peered into the bedroom to find Asif Babu standing over her mother. Later, the girl called the police emergency number 911.
Salem Police Officer Jonathan Springer said he arrived at the scene and found Asif Babu arguing with the woman. He separates the two.
