Jamalpur Zilla Parishad elections were held in a peaceful atmosphere.
Voting will continue from 9 am to 2 pm on Monday, October 17. This election was held in Jamalpur Sadar Upazila Parishad Engineer Mozaff Hossain Auditorium.
Jamalpur Sadar Upazila Jubo League president and former member of Zilla Parishad Md. Nazrul Islam was unofficially elected by getting 109 votes with lock symbol in the election. His nearest rival Naim Rahman, former General Secretary of Jamalpur District Jubilee got 101 votes with the elephant symbol.
Jamalpur District Jubo Mahila League president Farhana Soma was elected privately by getting 97 votes on the mic symbol for the reserved women’s member seat in Jamalpur-3 constituencies consisting of Jamalpur-Sarishabari upazila. Her closest rival Jamalpur District Women’s Awami League Vice President Ferdausi Begum Bulbuli got 77 votes with the deer symbol.
The polling station was covered by tight security since morning. The police and magistrates are on round-the-clock duty. EVMA elections are held. The people of Jamalpur thanked the Election Commissioner for holding the election in a peaceful environment.
