A student named Amirul Islam (16) of Umarpur Title Madrasa of Osmaninagar Upazila of Sylhet was detained in a hotel and rescued by the police during torture. Two people have been arrested in this incident. Amirul is the son of Khairul Islam of Kiampur village of Osmaninagar Upazila and a sixth grade student of Umarpur Title Madrasa.
The arrested are Md. Nazrul Islam and Menu Mia. They are sons of deceased Shamsuddin of Ahutia village under Pakundia police station of Kishoreganj district.
District Police Superintendent Abdullah Al Mamun gave this information in a press conference about the abduction and rescue on Sunday afternoon. According to the police, on October 9, Amirul left home for the madrasa. Since then, there was no trace of him. On October 12, his father reported the matter in writing to the Osmaninagar police station. When the case related to this, the police started the rescue operation. District Superintendent of Police Abdullah Al Mamun with the utmost importance on the rescue of the victim to coordinate through the rescue team, Osmaninagar member Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Rafiqul gave instructions to Islam. The police reached the ground and found out that a gang was holding the victim and demanding ransom. They have threatened to kill him if he does not pay the ransom.
The rescue team members rescued Amirul from in front of Phulkali Showroom in Rashidpur, Sylhet at around 9 pm on Saturday night based on secret information. Amirul told the police that he was abducted and detained in a hotel, tied hands and face and tortured. Later, the police entered the field to arrest the kidnappers. Two people were arrested from Shaistaganj with the help of information technology. According to the police, a case was registered under the regular law at the Osmaninagar police station on Sunday.
