District council election in Cox’s Bazar late at night, 4 chairman candidates are fighting

Zilla Parishad election at night. Like other districts of the country, voting will be held tomorrow Monday (October 17) in Cox’s Bazar District Council.

Ramu Upazila Election Officer Mahfuzul Islam, who is in charge of monitoring the implementation of the Cox’s Bazar Zilla Parishad election process, said that the representatives of 11 unions of Ramu will vote in the Ramu Upazila Auditorium in the Zilla Parishad election. Voting will begin on Monday at 9 am. Voting will continue on October 17 from 9 am to 2 pm continuously.

He said that this year’s voting will be done through EVM. Polling stations will be covered by CC cameras to provide fair, beautiful and impartial elections. Mobile phones are prohibited from entering polling booths and elections will be held in a peaceful atmosphere. All preparations for the election have been completed.

Mahfuzul Islam said that the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal will watch the polling stations directly through CC cameras. He warned everyone not to spread any kind of propaganda including social media.

Ramu election administrative officer and Ramu upazila executive officer (UNO) Fahmida Mustafa said that the election will be held in a peaceful environment. All preparations for the election are complete. The concerned administration has been kept alert to control the law and order situation in the election by the magistrate, police and Ansar-VDP members. He said that any untoward incident during the election will be dealt with strictly. He expressed hope to make the Zilla Parishad elections free and fair.

The upazila executive officer also said that the representatives of 11 unions of Ramur are determined to give fair, beautiful and impartial elections. No one will be spared if they want to try any kind of fight and violence in the polling station. He invited everyone to vote for their preferred candidates in a festive atmosphere.

Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Md. Mamunur Rashid is in charge of the returning officer in the Zilla Parishad election and SM Shakhawat Hossain is in charge of the assistant returning officer. District Election Officer SM Shakhawat Hossain said that the number of voters in 9 upazilas of the district in 71 unions and 4 municipalities is 994. Among them 759 male voters and 235 female voters.

In this year’s Zilla Parishad election, Awami League’s candidate for the post of chairman, Mostak Ahmed Chowdhury, got a motorcycle, former municipal chairman Nurul Abshar got a palm tree, Shahinul Haque got a pineapple as the symbol of Marshal, and Mangal Party president Jagdish Barua is competing with a butterfly symbol.

In the Zilla Parishad elections, Zilla Parishad member Ukhiyar Haldia Palang Awami League President Ashraf Jahan Kajal (Doat pen), Taslima Akhtar Rumana (table clock) and Taslima Akhtar (football) from Ward No. 1, Masharfa Jannat-Boi, Champa Uddin- Table Clock, Saleha Akhtar competing with Akhi-Football, Humaira Begum-Deer symbols. Asma ul Husna-Table Clock, Tania Afrin-Dawat Pen, Rehena Khanum-Football and Humaira Begum-Book are in competition from Ward No.3.

Zafar Alam-Tala, Md. Shafiq Mia-Tubewell from Ward No. 1, Abul Mansoor Chowdhury-Tubewell, Humayun Kabir Chowdhury-Tala from Ward No. 3, Mahmudul Karim Madu-Hati, Tahmina Nusrat Jahan Luna-Tala from Ward No. 3 in the district council election. And Md. Ruhul Amin-Autoriksa, Faridul Alam-Hati from Ward No. 4, Shamsul Alam Mondal-Tala, Mostak Ahmad-Autoriksa, Nurul Abshar-Ghuri, Md. Manjurul Murshed Quader-Electric Fan and Md. Abdul Majid-Tubewell, Soltan Ahmed from Ward No. 6 -Kite, Muhammad Faisal-Hati, Md. Abu Taib-Tubewell, Md. Jahangir Alam-Tala, ATM Zia Uddin Chowdhury Zia-Electric Fan, Ward No. 7 Md. Abdul Hamid-Cricket Bat, Md. Zainal Abedin-Hati, Moltan Mohammad Ripon-Dhol, Nurul Abshar-Electric Fan, Selina Akhter-Utpakhi and Mohammad Azamgir-Tubewell, 8th Ward M. Azizur Rahman-Tala, Shahidul Islam Munna-Hati and Md Saiful Qadir-Tubewell and Kafil Uddin-Tala, Abu Zafar Chiddiqui-Hati, Charwar Alam Sikdar-Ghuri and Nurul Islam-Tubewell are contesting on the symbols of Ward No. 9.

However, Ariful Islam was elected unopposed in Ward No. 5.

9 polling stations and number of voters in Cox’s Bazar District Parishad election this year are 93 voters in Teknaf Upazila Parishad room polling station, 68 voters in Ukhia Upazila Parishad room polling station, 82 voters in Sadar Upazila Cox’s Bazar Government High School polling station, Ramu Upazila Parishad is 145 voters in room polling station, 65 voters in Eidgah Adarsh ​​High School polling station of Eidgaon Upazila, 249 voters in Chakaria Upazila Parishad hall room polling station, 94 voters in Pekua Upazila Parishad hall room polling station, 117 voters in Maheshkhali Upazila Parishad hall room polling station. There are 81 voters in Kutubdia Adarsh ​​High School Polling Station of Jan and Kutubdia Upazila.
