Two people were killed when a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw fell into a ditch after being hit by a Sylhet-bound bus. The accident took place in Aduri area of ​​Rupganj on Dhaka-Sylhet highway on Wednesday (October 12) morning.

The deceased are – Araihajar Safar Ali College second year student Md. Nafiz (17). Diabari area of ​​Nafiz Rupganj. Naim is the son of Mia. Another autorickshaw driver. His name is not known.

According to eyewitnesses, a Sylhet-bound bus hit the autorickshaw from behind in the Aduri area of ​​the Dhaka-Sylhet highway. The autorickshaw overturned and fell into the ditch on the side of the road. Later, with the help of locals, the driver and passenger of the autorickshaw that fell into the ditch were rescued dead.

Farooq Miya, uncle of deceased Nafiz said, Nafiz left home at around 7:30 in the morning to go to college. Then around 9:30 am the news came that the auto rickshaw carrying him met with an accident. I got to know from the locals that he died on the spot. Nafiz was a brilliant student.

Omar Farooq, Inspector of Bhulta Police Camp, said that after receiving information, the bodies of two people killed in the road accident were recovered. One of them is Nafiz, a resident of Rupganj Diabari area. He is a higher secondary student of Safar Ali College. Another CNG driver. Attempts are being made to identify him.

He also said that the dead body of Nafiz will be handed over to his family. Preparations are underway to send the body of the unidentified CNG driver to Narayanganj Sadar General (Victoria) Hospital morgue. Besides, the killer bus has been seized. Further action will be taken as per rules.
